Cocopeat (coco peat): bulk supplier from India to the USA and Oman
Cocopeat, also written coco peat, is the fine, spongy material left when fibre is extracted from coconut husks. Washed and compressed into blocks, it is a peat-free growing medium used by greenhouses, nurseries, farms and landscapers. Coirpath supplies cocopeat in bulk containers and private label from Tamil Nadu.
What is cocopeat?
Cocopeat is the pith of the coconut husk, the cork-like particles that hold the fibres together. The terms cocopeat, coco peat, coir pith and cocopith all describe the same material.
It holds up to eight times its weight in water while staying airy, so roots get both moisture and oxygen. It is renewable, peat-free and pH-neutral.
Raw cocopeat contains salts, so it is washed in fresh water to a low EC before use. Buffered cocopeat is also treated with calcium for hydroponics.
